1. A method for securely transmitting sensor measurement data from a sensor device to a data processor functionally present within a remote server system, the method comprising:
a) encrypting, by the sensor device using a public key of an asymmetric key pair, a sensor measurement data stream from the sensor data acquired by the sensor device, the public key being retrieved from a persistent memory store within the sensor device;
b) sending, via a sensor data collector associated with the sensor device, the public-key-encrypted sensor measurement data stream through a public communications network to the data processor functionally present within the remote server system;
c) decrypting, by the data processor, the public-key-encrypted sensor measurement data stream utilizing a private key of the asymmetric key pair received from a securely accessible authorization server of the remote server system, the private key being absent from the persistent memory store of the sensor device; and
d) processing the decrypted sensor measurement data by the remote server system for presentation to a user of the remote server system.
