1. A method for wireless communication performed by a wireless communication device, comprising:
receiving a trigger frame soliciting a trigger-based (TB) physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) from the wireless communication device, the trigger frame comprising a user information field indicating a resource unit (RU) allocation and a distributed transmission bit indicating a tone distribution information, the tone distribution information indicating whether a number of tones are allocated for a contiguous transmission or a distributed transmission; and
transmitting the TB PPDU over a wireless channel based at least in part on a mapping of the number of tones to a number of subcarrier indices associated with the wireless channel according to a first tone plan or a second tone plan based on whether the number of tones are allocated for the contiguous transmission or the distributed transmission, respectively.
