1. A method, comprising:
a. providing a device that is (i) implantable in a tissue region of a subject and (ii) configured to detect or measure one or more biological signals from the tissue region;
b. applying one or more coatings to the device using at least atomic layer deposition to (i) seal one or more microcracks or pores in at least a portion of the device or (ii) reduce a size of the one or more microcracks or pores, thereby enhancing the hermeticity of the device; and
c. implanting the device in the tissue region of the subject to detect or measure the one or more biological signals of the subject, wherein at least a portion of the device comprises one or more electrodes configured to transmit the one or more biological signals from the tissue region of the subject to one or more electronic components or circuits of the device.
