1. A method of distributing electronic ticket status information over a network to a remote subscriber portable computing device during a live event, the method comprising:
providing an electronic ticket manager application to a subscriber for installation on the remote subscriber portable computing device;
receiving ticket data at a transmission server during the live event about an existing electronic ticket associated with the remote subscriber portable computing device sent from a data source over the Internet, the ticket data including a location of a seat associated with the remote subscriber portable computing device and locations of other seats available within a venue for the live event; the transmission server comprising a microprocessor and a memory that stores the remote subscriber's preferences for ticket information format, destination address, and specified tickets; the ticket data further comprising a group size for electronic tickets associated with one or more requests for group seating, the group seating being defined by two or more requests originating from two or more portable computing devices of remote subscribers who have existing personal relationships among each other identified in a database which is accessed by the transmission server;
wherein the microprocessor filters locations of available seats within the venue for the live event according to a seating optimization algorithm to identify optimal and available seats corresponding to the group seating; the microprocessor generating a first, ranked list of locations of each seat associated with an electronic ticket presently assigned to each portable computing device of remote subscribers within the venue during the live event who requested participation in the electronic seating optimization algorithm; the first, ranked list of locations being sorted where larger groups of available seats with seat locations within the venue have a higher ranking over smaller groups of seats with less seat locations within the venue; the microprocessor generating a second, ranked list of locations of each seat that is available for the group seating and in accordance with the electronic seating optimization algorithm; the second, ranked list of locations being sorted where remote subscribers requesting group seating and having sponsor status or frequent ticket holder status are provided with a higher ranking over remote subscribers requesting group seating and that do not have sponsor status or frequent ticket holder status;
generates an electronic ticket alert during the live event from the filtered data indicating locations of seats corresponding to the group seating of the second list;
formats the electronic ticket alert into data blocks according to said information format; and
transmits the formatted ticket alert during the live event over a wireless communication channel to the remote subscriber portable computing device based upon the destination address, wherein the ticket alert causes a message to be displayed on a display of the remote subscriber portable computing device, the message comprising an electronic ticket presenting a location of a plurality of seats within the venue corresponding to the group seating available during the live event.
