1. A process for preparing an iron oxide nanocomposite, the process comprising:
preparing a date palm charcoal powder;
adding the date palm charcoal powder and ferric nitrate to ethylene glycol and optionally other solvents to obtain a mixture;
drying the mixture to obtain a carbon matrix of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles; and
separating the carbon matrix of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles from non-magnetic carbon particles to obtain the iron oxide nanocomposite.
