1. A microbial material comprising a symbiosis-promoting agent and an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, wherein the symbiosis-promoting agent comprises cystathionine and wherein the symbiosis-promoting agent is in contact with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.
 
8. A method for promoting symbiosis comprising bringing cystathionine into contact with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.
