1. An oral care article comprising:
a) a solid water insoluble delivery carrier in form of a strip having a length and a width forming a first surface and having a thickness extending from the first surface to a second surface, wherein an average thickness is less than about 3 mm; and
b) solid hydrophilic particles comprising an active agent for oral care, wherein the active agent comprises at least one of bleaching agent(s), healing agent(s), anti-calculus agent(s), anti-caries agent(s), antimicrobial agent(s), dentinal desensitizing agent(s), anesthetic agent(s), antifungal agent(s), coolant(s), anti-inflammatory agent(s), selective H-2 antagonist(s), nutrient(s), erythritol, probiotics, fluoride ion source(s), tooth whitening agent(s), or combinations thereof;
wherein at least about 20 parts by weight of the solid hydrophilic particles dissolve in about 100 parts by weight of water and/or the solid hydrophilic particles increases in volume and/or weight by at least about 50% upon contact with water; and wherein the solid hydrophilic particles release active agent upon contact with water; and
wherein the solid hydrophilic particles are disposed in and embedded in the solid water insoluble delivery carrier, wherein the solid hydrophilic particles are disposed i) at least partially below the first surface, and ii) at least partially at or above the first surface of the solid water insoluble delivery carrier, wherein more than about 10% of a surface area of the solid hydrophilic particles is disposed at the first surface of the water insoluble delivery carrier and exposed to an external environment surrounding the water insoluble delivery carrier.
