1. A method of manufacturing a device for collecting urine discharged from a body of a user, comprising:
forming a fluid collection assembly having a first end, the fluid collection assembly comprising at least one layer for drawing urine discharged from the body of the user into an interior cavity of the device;
coupling an external covering to the fluid collection assembly such that the external covering covers a portion of the fluid collection assembly;
forming at least one fenestration for receiving urine, wherein the at least one fenestration is a portion of the fluid collection assembly that is uncovered by the external covering;
positioning a tube relative to the fluid collection assembly such that the tube has a first end in fluid communication with the first end of the fluid collection assembly;
forming a wedge-shaped structure at the first end of the fluid collection assembly, wherein the wedge-shaped structure has a tapered surface that is configured to fit into gluteal folds and a perineum of the body of the user, wherein the tapered surface defines an edge at the first end of the fluid collection assembly, wherein the edge has a length and a width, wherein the length is greater than the width, wherein the wedge-shaped structure has a first end and a second end, wherein the second end of the wedge-shaped structure is coupled to the first end of the fluid collection assembly, and wherein the first end of the wedge-shaped structure is closed; and
forming an anchor comprising an adhesive layer and extending beyond at least two sides of fluid collection assembly,
wherein the anchor is configured to secure the fluid collection assembly such that the fluid collection assembly is disposed against the body of the user, with the at least one fenestration in operative relation with a urethral opening of the user such that urine discharged from the urethral opening is received by the fluid collection assembly at the at least one fenestration, and then evacuated through the tube.
