1. A gas humidifier comprising:
a gases inlet;
a gases outlet;
a gases flow channel extending from the gases inlet to the gases outlet and configured to receive a gases flow;
a reservoir configured to hold a volume of water;
a water delivery pathway extending from the reservoir to the gases flow channel, wherein the water delivery pathway is configured to allow the water to be drawn from the reservoir to the gases flow channel;
a heater positioned downstream of the water delivery pathway, the heater configured to provide a heat output to the water drawn into the gases flow channel through the water delivery pathway to humidify the gases flow flowing through the gases flow channel from the gases inlet to the gases outlet;
at least one upstream sensor located within the gases flow channel and upstream of the water delivery pathway, the at least one upstream sensor configured to provide an upstream signal based on one or more upstream characteristics of the gases flow;
at least one downstream sensor located within the gases flow channel and downstream of the water delivery pathway, the at least one downstream sensor configured to provide a downstream signal based on one or more downstream characteristics of the gases flow; and
a controller configured to receive the upstream signal and/or the downstream signal to control the heat output of the heater based on the upstream signal and/or the downstream signal.
