1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
generating an artificial data packet, the artificial data packet comprising out-of-band data of a session control channel to be processed for authentication and authorization of a user of a client device in a virtual private network, the client device communicably connected to a server of the virtual private network via a data stream;
inserting, into a header of the artificial data packet, an artificial Internet Protocol (IP) address, the artificial (IP) address serving as an indicator to the server of the virtual private network that the artificial data packet comprises the out-of-band data; and
transmitting the artificial data packet from the client device to the server over the data stream to the server to cause the server to determine, based on the artificial IP address, that the artificial data packet is to be processed by a computer system that processes the out-of-band data.
