1. A method of obtaining sensor information pertaining to a location of a portable device relative to an object, said method comprising:
providing a first command to a first object device, the first command directing the first object device to communicate with the portable device;
conducting, with the first object device based on the first command, first communications with the portable device according to a first schedule of different frequencies;
obtaining, with the first object device, a first sensed characteristic pertaining to the first communications;
providing a second command to a second object device, the second command directing the second object device to monitor the first communications between the first object device and the portable device;
obtaining, with the second object device, a second sensed characteristic pertaining to the first communications;
generating second sensor information based on the second sensed characteristic; and
generating location information about the portable device relative to the object based on the first sensor information and the second sensor information.
