1. A method comprising:
generating a plurality of environment probes for a graphics scene, each environment probe having a direction originally associated therewith for capturing light from one or more light sources associated with the graphics scene; and
altering one or more directions associated with a corresponding one or more environment probes to allow the one or more environment probes to receive a higher radiance from the one or more light sources compared to light received with the one or more directions originally associated with the one or more environment probes, wherein altering the one or more directions is to produce corresponding one or more updated directions, and wherein producing the one or more updated directions comprising:
capturing a plurality of environment probe images corresponding to the plurality of environment probes;
processing the plurality of environment probe images to arrive at a new plurality of environment probe images;
for a pixel in the new plurality of environment probe images,
generating an importance sampled direction based on a number,
converting the importance sampled direction to a two-dimensional (2D) coordinate,
sampling a plurality of environment probes closest to the pixel using the 2D coordinate to generate a corresponding plurality of sampling directions, and
selecting a combined direction from the corresponding plurality of sampling directions as an updated direction of the one or more updated directions.
