1. A computer-implemented method for making payments from a financial account of a user via wireless communication between a vehicle payment application executing on one or more processors and a merchant communication terminal or server associated with a merchant location, the computer-implemented method comprising:
generating, by one or more processors executing a vehicle payment application, a virtual map display of a geographic area including indications of merchant locations;
in response to receiving a selection of a merchant location presented on the virtual map display, presenting, a payment activation screen;
receiving, by the one or more processors executing the vehicle payment application, a selection by the user of a financial account for initiating a payment process at the merchant location;
authenticating the user to ensure the user is authorized to use the financial account by receiving a facial scan from the user;
in response to receiving a selection of a user control on the payment activation screen to make a payment, presenting, by the one or more processors executing the vehicle payment application, a payment authorization screen indicating a method of payment associated with the selected financial account; and
transmitting, by the one or more processors executing the vehicle payment application, a request to purchase goods or services to a merchant communication terminal or server associated with the merchant location.
