1. A method of forming a part using an additive manufacturing machine, the method comprising:
receiving material with an extruder of the additive manufacturing machine;
heating the material as the material passes through the extruder;
depositing the material from a nozzle in fluid communication with the extruder to form a portion of the part;
determining a length of a bead of the material after the material is deposited from the nozzle;
determining a temperature of the material after the material is deposited from the nozzle with a thermal sensor;
comparing the determined temperature to a predetermined temperature range;
displaying an indication of whether the determined temperature is within the predetermined temperature range; and
adjusting a speed of movement of the material through the additive manufacturing machine based on the determined temperature, the predetermined temperature range, and the length of the bead of the deposited material.
