1. An ultrasound (US) transducer apparatus comprising:
a support wire having a distal end; and
a US transducer extending distally from the distal end of the support wire and adapted to be in contact with tissue to transmit US signals and receive US reflection signals for image generation of an anatomy near the US transducer,
wherein the support wire comprises a rigid support wire, and further comprises:
an optical tracking array comprising a plurality of spaced apart markers, wherein the optical tracking array is attached to the rigid support wire.
