1. A method for troubleshooting a communication network including a plurality of interconnected branches, the method comprising:
detecting an impairment in a first physical branch of the plurality of interconnected branches, the impairment being caused by one or more of damage to the first physical branch, maintenance being performed on the first physical branch, and severing of the first physical branch; and
in response to detecting the impairment:
grafting the first physical branch with a second physical branch of the plurality of branches at least partially by closing a switch communicatively coupling the first physical branch and the second physical branch, and
isolating a first portion of the first physical branch from a second portion of the first physical branch.
