1. A budget management guidance system, comprising:
a portable device comprising processing circuitry and a storage device, wherein the processing circuitry is configured to:
receive a budget goal via a user input at the portable device, wherein the budget goal sets a threshold value for one or more purchases made by a user during a time period;
store the threshold value only locally in the storage device without communicating the threshold value outside of the portable device;
receive product imagery related to a product;
determine a purchase price of the product based on the product imagery;
access the threshold value from the storage device; and
instruct output of a notification on a graphical user interface of the portable device in response to determining that the purchase price of the product exceeds the threshold value.
