1. An optical transmitter comprising:
an optical modulator configured to output light for transmission over an optical fiber, the optical modulator having a first output and a second output;
a first photodetector coupled to the first output of the optical modulator, the first photodetector configured to couple a first portion of the light output from the first output of the optical modulator to the optical fiber;
a second photodetector coupled to the second output of the optical modulator, the second photodetector configured to terminate a second portion of the light output from the second output of the optical modulator;
a mode size converter coupled to the optical fiber and configured to match a mode size of the optical fiber to the optical transmitter;
a first waveguide coupling the first photodetector to the mode size converter;
a second waveguide coupling the first photodetector to the first output of the optical modulator; and
a third waveguide coupling the second photodetector to the second output of the optical modulator, the second and third waveguides being parallel to each other.
