1. A method comprising:
receiving, from a node through a first connection outside a managed network, a request associated with a second connection between nodes within the managed network, wherein the second connection is associated with a plurality of network elements within the managed network;
generating, at an application description function, in accordance with the received request, a set of configuration information comprising a plurality of element-specific configuration data subsets, each element-specific configuration data subset mapped to one of the plurality of network elements associated with the second connection; and
transmitting, towards each of the different network elements associated with the second connection, a corresponding configuration request comprising the respective element-specific configuration data subset.
