1. A method of suppressing corrosion of a corrodible metal surface that contacts a fluid stream in a hydrocarbon system, the method comprising:
introducing into the fluid stream a treatment chemistry including an organometallic corrosion inhibitor in an amount sufficient to provide a stable film on the metal surface, the stable film being effective to inhibit corrosion of the corrodible metal surface, the organometallic corrosion inhibitor comprising tin and an organic carboxylic acid;
measuring and monitoring a parameter of at least one of a surface demand of the corrodible metal surface and a system demand of the hydrocarbon system for the organometallic corrosion inhibitor;
controlling the amount of the organometallic corrosion inhibitor introduced into the fluid stream based on the measured and monitored parameter such that the organometallic corrosion inhibitor introduced into the fluid stream during treatment exceeds a baseline system demand of the hydrocarbon system for the organometallic corrosion inhibitor so that the sufficient amount of the organometallic corrosion inhibitor is available to form the stable film on the corrodible metal surface; and
forming the stable film on the metal surface,
wherein the treatment chemistry is introduced so that a concentration of the organometallic corrosion inhibitor in the fluid stream is in a range of 0.01 to 1,000,000 ppm.
