1. A shoulder orthosis comprising:
an arm portion for securing to an arm of a wearer;
a body portion for securing to a body or another body part of the wearer; and
a tensioning system comprising an adjustment mechanism and one or more cables, wherein the one or more cables are operatively connected to the adjustment mechanism, wherein the one or more cables directly or indirectly connect the arm portion to the body portion, and wherein the one or more cables are positioned across a shoulder joint of the wearer; wherein the adjustment mechanism is configured to allow the wearer to adjust and/or control a force or forces across, between, or around the shoulder joint of the wearer; wherein the adjustment mechanism is configured to generate a mechanical advantage when operated to increase the force or forces across, between, or around the shoulder joint of the wearer; and wherein the position of the one or more cables across the shoulder joint at least one of controls, governs, or determines, a direction or directions of the force or forces across, between, or around the shoulder joint of the wearer.
