1. A device for voluntary self-sorting of live aquatic animals, comprising:
at least one passage device, by which a water tank is divided into a passage-facilitating region and a passage-obstructing region, the at least one passage device comprising a carrier plate,
wherein the at least one passage device has a plurality of passage openings in the carrier plate that are adaptable in size to the aquatic animals to be sorted,
wherein the at least one passage device comprises guides that protrude from the carrier plate towards the passage-facilitating region and retainers that protrude from the carrier plate towards the passage-obstructing region,
wherein the guides comprise climbing aids and the retainers comprise walls adapted to a contour of the passage openings, and
wherein the passage openings are flat and arranged in the carrier plate, and have a height that is larger than a height of the aquatic animals to be sorted.
