1. A method of wireless communication at a mobile device, comprising:
receiving a request for a satellite communication from an internal application of the mobile device or a user interaction;
determining if satellite positioning systems (SPS) signals have been acquired for a SPS operation;
pausing a satellite communication link if it is determined that the SPS signals have not been acquired, wherein the SPS signals have multiple frequency bands;
acquiring the SPS signals for the SPS operation;
computing a position of the mobile device based on the SPS operation; and
engaging in the satellite communication link with a communication satellite, wherein the communication satellite is part of a wireless communication network.
