13. A lithium battery comprising:
an anode including an active anode material;
a cathode including an active cathode material comprising lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (LiNixCoyMn1-x-yO2) (NCM) with each of x and y not including zero and x+y being smaller than 1;
a separator separating the anode and the cathode; and
an electrolyte including
a solvent or solvent mixture and lithium hexafluorophosphate, and
a germanium organyl-based electrolyte additive selected from the group consisting of the following formulas 2 to 19, with X being Ge, and R being C1 to C9 alkyl, or C1 to C9 alkoxyl:
