1. A method for producing a magnesium secondary battery, comprising the step of:
producing an electrolyte by mixing a sulfone solvent, metal magnesium, and an elemental halogen, wherein the molar ratio of the metal magnesium to the elemental halogen is not less than 4:1; wherein the metal magnesium is a metal containing magnesium in an amount of not less than 96% by weight with respect to a total weight of the metal; and
combining a positive electrode and a negative magnesium electrode with the electrolyte.
