1. A method comprising:
injecting a tuning sample into a mass spectrometer during one or more run-time periods occurring during a batch of one or more analytical runs performed with the mass spectrometer, the one or more run-time periods including a time period between injecting a sample into a separation system and a first component of the sample reaching the mass spectrometer;
acquiring, by a tuning system from a mass spectrometer during the one or more run-time periods, tune data associated with an operating characteristic of the mass spectrometer;
determining, by the tuning system based on the tune data, a value of an operating parameter configured to adjust the operating characteristic of the mass spectrometer; and
setting, by the tuning system, the operating parameter to the determined value.
