1. An apparatus for conducting an electrochemiluminescence assay comprising:
(a) an assay electrode comprising a composite containing a matrix, a thermoplastic polymer, and a multiplicity of graphene particles dispersed therein,
wherein the thermoplastic polymer is selected from the group consisting of a polyethyloxyazoline or polyvinyl pyrrolidone and wherein a ratio of thermoplastic polymer to graphene particles is between 0.5 kg/kg to 1.2 kg/kg, and
wherein the composite further comprises a glycol drying-retarder agent selected from the group consisting of dibutyl phthalate; diocyl phthalate; tributyl phosphate; 1,3 butylene glycol, and combinations thereof:
and
(b) said assay electrode having a plurality of distinct binding domains supported on said electrode, each domain containing a reagent capable of binding a component of a binding electrochemiluminescence assay, wherein said reagent is immobilized in a surface of said assay electrode, wherein at least two of said plurality of distinct binding domains differ in their specificity for analytes of interest.
