1. A lighting unit comprising:
a carrier;
an array of LEDs mounted on the carrier; and
a lens plate with a circular array of lenslets and disposed over the carrier, the lens plate comprising:
a first surface having a plurality of individual cells, each cell defining one side of a respective lenslet of the array of lenslets; and
a second surface opposite the first surface and having a set of grooves, each groove defining a second side of the lenslets of the array of lenslets;
wherein the circular array of lenslets include a plurality of concentric rings, each ring formed by a plurality of straight segments comprising at least two of said lenslets arrainged in a row, and
at least some of the LEDs are offset from center of an associated cell; or
for at least some of the cells, a plurality of LEDs located at different positions along a groove direction and are associated with the same cell.
