1. A media processing device, comprising:
a hopper for supporting a stack of media units;
a door that is operable to move between an open position and a closed position, an interior of the hopper being accessible when the door is in the open position;
an outlet from which the media units in the stack are sequentially dispensed from the hopper;
a pick roller disposed proximate to the outlet for sequentially dispensing the media units from the hopper to a media processing path through the outlet;
a biasing assembly configured to be:
biased to urge the stack of the media units toward the pick roller when the door is in the closed position to create a frictional engagement force between a next one of the media units in the stack to be dispensed from the hopper and the pick roller; and
retracted from the stack of media units away from the pick roller to disengage the biasing assembly from the stack of the media units when the door is in an open position.
