1. A monitoring system for detecting a disruption of a fluid connection between a first fluid containing system and a second fluid containing system, the monitoring system comprising:
a pressure sensor configured to generate at least one pressure signal that measures a pressure of fluid within the first fluid containing system;
at least one filter block configured to (i) filter the at least one pressure signal to thereby generate a monitoring signal, and (ii) filter the at least one pressure signal or the monitoring signal to thereby generate a tracking signal, wherein the tracking signal and the monitoring signal are generated to represent changes in the at least one pressure signal on different time scales; and
a disruption detector configured to (i) set a detection range based on the generated tracking signal, (ii) compare the generated monitoring signal with the detection range, and (iii) generate an alarm if the generated monitoring signal is outside of the detection range.
