1. A method of operating an artificial pancreas system, the method comprising:
initiating the artificial pancreas system in a first decision support mode of a plurality of decision support modes of the artificial pancreas system, the artificial pancreas system including a glucose monitoring system that is configured to measure glucose concentration data of a host, a display device configured to display the glucose concentration data of the host measured by the glucose monitoring system, and an insulin pump that is configured to administer insulin to the host based on the glucose concentration data of the host measured by the glucose monitoring system, the plurality of decision support modes of the artificial pancreas system including at least an adjunctive phase during which the artificial pancreas system is used to provide information based on the glucose concentration of the host measured by the glucose monitoring system and/or a recommendation based on the glucose concentration of the host measured by the glucose monitoring system and during which the artificial pancreas system is not being used with the insulin pump, a low glucose phase during which the insulin pump is disabled if low glucose levels are detected for the host by the glucose monitoring system, an alarm phase during which an alarm is generated if low glucose levels are detected for the host by the glucose monitoring system prior to disabling the insulin pump, and a closed-loop phase during which the insulin pump is controlled to dose insulin to the host;
receiving or determining data usability data concerning the glucose concentration data, wherein the data usability data is based on at least one of accuracy, reliability, stability or confidence in the glucose concentration data; and
transitioning the artificial pancreas system to a second decision support mode of the plurality of decision support modes of the artificial pancreas system based on a comparison of the received or determined data usability data to one or more decision support criteria, wherein the second decision support mode comprises a different one of the plurality of decision support modes of the artificial pancreas system, and wherein each of the plurality of decision support modes of the artificial pancreas system are configured to display the glucose concentration data of the host via the display device.
