1. A medical device for applying microwave energy to tissue from an energy source, the device comprising:
a transmission line having a longitudinal axis;
a first loop coupled to the transmission line, wherein the first loop comprises a base portion and a loop portion, wherein the first loop is configured to radiate a microwave field generated by the energy source,
a second loop electrically grounded and electrically insulated from the first loop, wherein the second loop extends adjacent to the first loop, wherein the second loop is configured to alter microwave energy output radiated by the first loop to redistribute the microwave energy in a shaped microwave field; and
wherein the first loop flexes when advanced against the tissue, allowing the base portion to conform to the tissue.
