8. A surgical stapling instrument, comprising
an end effector, comprising:
a first jaw;
a second jaw movable relative to the first jaw between an open configuration and a closed configuration to grasp tissue between the first jaw and the second jaw;
an anvil;
a staple cartridge comprising staples deployable into the tissue and deformable by the anvil; and
predetermined zones between the anvil and the staple cartridge, wherein the predetermined zones comprise:
an inner predetermined zone;
an outer predetermined zone; and
an intermediate predetermined zone between the inner predetermined zone and the outer predetermined zone; and
a control circuit configured to:
determine a first electrical parameter of the tissue for the inner predetermined zone, a second electrical parameter of the tissue for the outer predetermined zone, and a third electrical parameter of the tissue for the intermediate predetermined zone;
compare each of the first, second, and third electrical parameters to each other, wherein to compare each of the first, second, and third electrical parameters to each other comprises to (i) determine an average electrical parameter of the first electrical parameters and the second electrical parameter and (ii) compare the average electrical parameter to the third electrical parameter;
detect an irregularity in tissue distribution within the end effector based on the comparison of the first, second, and third electrical parameters, wherein to detect the irregularity in tissue distribution comprises to determine that an irregularity in tissue distribution is present in response to a determination that the average electrical parameter is greater than the third electrical parameter based on the comparison of the average electrical parameter and the third electrical parameter; and
adjust a closure parameter of the end effector based on the detected irregularity.
