1. A method comprising the steps of:
analyzing a network by inspecting actual network traffic through a cloud-based security system including inline monitoring to assess a license status of the network, the license status related to one or more security licenses procured for providing security protection to the network;
analyzing the network by inspecting the actual network traffic to assess a configuration status of the network, the configuration status related to configurations settings of one or more security policies currently operating with respect to the network;
based on the assessed license status and configuration status, calculating a security risk score indicating a current level of risk that the network faces against threats, intrusions, cyber-attacks, breaches, and/or data loss, wherein the security risk score is dynamically updated based on real-time network traffic inspection results; and
automatically adjusting one or more of the security policies based on the dynamically updated security risk score to mitigate detected risks, wherein the adjusted security policies are enforced by the cloud-based security system.
