1. A protection circuit comprising:
a first capacitor connected parallel to a first battery and between a first connection point and a second connection point, wherein the first connection point is associated with a first voltage level output of an alternator and the second connection point is associated with a second voltage level output of the alternator, wherein the first voltage level is different than the second voltage level;
a second capacitor connected parallel to a second battery and between the second connection point and a third connection point, wherein the third connection point is associated with a third voltage level;
a first switch; and
a controller circuit configured to activate the first switch to disconnect one or both of the first capacitor and the second capacitor based on a ratio between the first voltage level and the second voltage level being greater than a predefined ratio.
