1. A wave energy conversion system comprising:
a buoyant wave activated floating assembly comprising:
a floating body and
at least one linear module having:
a housing tube;
a linear electric direct drive machine carried within the housing tube; and
a sealed reciprocating input rod extending from the housing tube and connected to the linear electric direct drive machine;
a reaction body assembly connected to the input rod, having a positively buoyant, submerged reaction body and a taut vertical tether;
wherein the reaction body assembly provides a kinematic reference and connection to the reciprocating input rod which is received in the housing tube, and actuates a translator of the linear electric direct drive machine, reciprocating longitudinally relative to a stator, wherein the floating body comprises a lightweight buoy ballasted with seawater such that the vertical distance between the bottom of the wave activated floating assembly and the top of the reaction body assembly is approximately half the stroke of the linear electric direct drive machine at equilibrium.
