1. A metallic matrix composite, comprising:
a titanium aluminide alloy matrix; and
an in situ formed aluminum oxide reinforcement,
wherein the titanium aluminide alloy matrix comprises at least two titanium aluminide phases,
wherein the atomic percentage of aluminum in the titanium aluminide alloy matrix ranges from 40.0% to 48.0%, and
wherein the titanium aluminide matrix comprises a titanium aluminide phase in the form of Ti3Al, and the weight percentage of Ti3Al in the titanium aluminide matrix ranges from 9.02% to 43.17%.
