1. A medical device, comprising:
a catheter shaft including a proximal end region and a distal end region, and defining a first lumen and an open distal end in fluid communication with the first lumen;
wherein the open distal end is configured to permit fluid to flow through the open distal end;
a tubular member within the catheter shaft and defining a second lumen having a length and extending along a longitudinal axis, the tubular member having a plurality of openings formed therein, each of the plurality of openings spaced apart from an adjacent opening along a portion of the length, the plurality of openings configured to provide for fluid communication between the second lumen and the first lumen, and being oriented at an angle relative to the longitudinal axis so as to infuse fluid from within the second lumen into the first lumen such that fluid flows in a distal direction in the second lumen, through the plurality of openings, and in a proximal direction within the first lumen;
wherein the plurality of openings are configured to create fluid jets disposed within the first lumen of the catheter shaft.
