1. A surgical stapling device, comprising:
an outer tube, comprising:
a proximal body portion having a cutout; and
a distal channel portion having an outer channel surface;
a tool assembly, comprising:
an anvil body pivotally coupled to the outer tube and defining a first longitudinal axis, the anvil body having an outer surface, a first tissue contact surface, and a pivot member received within the cutout; and
a staple cartridge disposed within the distal channel portion of the outer tube and defining a second longitudinal axis, the staple cartridge having a second tissue contact surface and a plurality of staple retention pockets configured to support a corresponding plurality of staples, with the anvil body being pivotable relative to the staple cartridge to define a closed position of the tool assembly, in which the first longitudinal axis is parallel to the second longitudinal axis, and to define an open position of the tool assembly, in which the first longitudinal axis defines an acute angle with the second longitudinal axis;
wherein, when the tool assembly is in the closed position, the anvil body is movable relative to the staple cartridge to define a parked position, in which the first tissue contact surface is juxtaposed with the second tissue contact surface and engaged therealong, and to define a clamped position, wherein the first tissue contact surface is in spaced alignment with the second tissue contact surface and defines a tissue gap therealong.
