1. A system configured to wirelessly control and wirelessly provide power to a cardiac assist device, the system comprising:
an implantable cardiac assist pump; and
an extracorporeal energy source;
wherein energy is transferred from the extracorporeal energy source to the implantable cardiac assist pump using pulsed ultrasonic waves emitted by piezoelectric transducers for at least a portion of the energy transfer path configured to enable wireless transcutaneous energy transfer between the extracorporeal energy source and the implantable cardiac assist pump, wherein a single bit of data is encoded in multiple ultrasonic pulses.
