1. A method of performing a dental or medical procedure on a patient, comprising:
mounting a mask on the patient's face, said mask having a flexible mask substrate and at least one elastic strap for mounting and conforming the mask to the patient's face; and
providing the mask with a port and an adapter for accepting a nebulizer;
wherein the mask further comprises:
a rigid front plate (FP) disposed on a front portion of the flexible mask substrate; and
wherein:
the port is disposed on a side of the rigid front plate; and
a deflector comprising an extension of the rigid front plate extending towards the port.
