1. A method comprising:
receiving, by network equipment comprising a processor, a request to implement a network service in a network, wherein the network comprises access point equipment connected via a transport segment to a core network segment;
based on the request, selecting, by the network equipment, deployment locations in the network for service elements applicable to enabling the network service, wherein a first service element of the service elements is selected to be deployed at a deployment location; and
facilitating, by the network equipment, deploying the first service element at the deployment location,
wherein the first service element is deployed via a multicast coordination function instantiated at the access point equipment,
wherein the network service includes a multicast multimedia service that includes linked network service elements spanning a radio access network, the access point equipment, the transport segment, and the core network segment, the linked network service elements being included in the service elements, and
wherein based on an activation of the multicast coordination function, a multimedia gateway of the core network segment provides functions of session management and traffic routing, and a multicast router of the core network segment provides overlay connectivity to the transport segment where data flows in and out of the radio access network.
