1. An automotive audio headunit comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising program instructions that are executable by the at least one processor such that the automotive audio headunit is configured to:
cause detection of (i) multiple passive speakers connected to at least one amplifier and (ii) respective passive speaker types of the multiple passive speakers via one or more electric identification signals provided to respective speaker terminals of the multiple passive speakers;
determine that the detected multiple passive speakers and respective passive speaker types are compatible with a particular playback configuration of a playback zone in a vehicle;
when the detected multiple passive speakers and respective passive speaker types are determined to be compatible with the particular playback configuration, cause a graphical display to display a graphical user interface comprising (i) an indication that the particular playback configuration is available for calibration and (ii) a selectable control that, when selected, initiates calibration of the multiple passive speakers according to the particular playback configuration;
receive input data representing selection of the selectable control; and
according to the received input data, perform a spectral calibration of the multiple passive speakers in the particular playback configuration using sound captured via one or more microphones in the vehicle while the multiple passive speakers play back audio signals from the at least one amplifier.
