1. A method, comprising:
initializing a row driver in a row driver set of a plurality of row driver sets in a default state;
receiving configuration data at the row driver;
determining if a token has been received at the row driver based at least in part on a token clock signal and a configuration clock signal, wherein the configuration clock signal is configured to latch configuration data in a latch for the row driver of the row driver set, wherein the token is a passable identifier that is passed down between row drivers of the row driver set to identify which row driver is to be configured next;
if the token has been received by the row driver, configuring the row driver by latching the received configuration data to cause the row driver to be in a state indicated in the configuration data, wherein latching the received configuration data comprises:
receiving the token at the row driver;
latching, using an additional latch, the received token using a token clock;
using an AND gate to perform an AND operation between an output of the additional latch and the configuration clock signal to cause the received configuration data to be latched; and
passing the token from the row driver based at least in part on the token clock signal to at least one downstream row driver to configure the at least one downstream row driver by latching corresponding configuration data, wherein the row drivers of a display are configured using the token prior to driving pixels of the display.
