1. A method for providing information related to embedded sound recordings using composition clustering, the method comprising:
receiving, by a server and from a user device of a user, a content item;
extracting, by the server, a sound recording from the content item;
generating, by the server, a melody fingerprint of the extracted sound recording, wherein the melody fingerprint represents a melody of a composition embodied in the sound recording extracted from the content item;
determining, by the server, whether the melody fingerprint of the extracted sound recording matches one of a plurality of composition clusters of similar sounding sound recordings of the composition in a reference database, wherein each composition cluster in the plurality of composition clusters of the similar sounding sound recordings corresponds to a single composition and is associated with ownership information based on a plurality of ownership information associated with each of the similar sounding sound recordings in the composition cluster;
in response to determining that the melody fingerprint of the extracted sound recording matches a particular composition cluster of the plurality of composition clusters of the similar sounding sound recordings, retrieving, by the server, an ownership information associated with the particular composition cluster;
mapping, by the server, the ownership information associated with the particular composition cluster to the sound recording extracted from the content item;
determining, by the server and based on the mapping, whether the sound recording extracted from the content item is associated with a particular-ownership rights indicated by at least a portion of the ownership information, wherein the particular ownership rights are associated with a particular entity; and
in response to determining that the sound recording extracted from the content item is not associated with the particular ownership rights:
causing, by the server, a display device associated with the user device to present a user interface that prompts the user to associate the particular ownership rights with the content item; and
transmitting, by the server, a recommendation to the particular entity to claim the particular ownership rights with respect to the sound recording extracted from the content item.
