1. A pre-operative planning method, the method comprising:
receiving, with a computing system, one or more images of a shoulder of a subject;
determining, with the computing system, soft tissue insertion points on the subject, based on the one or more images, the soft tissue insertion points comprising one or more attachment points at one or more muscles or bones, wherein the one or more attachment points at the one or more muscles or bones include one or more of:
(1) an attachment point of a subscapularis near a lesser tuberosity and an attachment point near an anterior glenoid, wherein the one or more muscles include the subscapularis;
(2) an attachment point of a supraspinatus near an anterior greater tuberosity and an attachment point above a scapular spine, wherein the one or more muscles include the supraspinatus;
(3) an attachment point of an infraspinatus at a greater tuberosity and an attachment point below the scapular spine, wherein the one or more muscles include the infraspinatus; or
(4) an attachment point of a teres minor at a posterior of a humerus and an attachment point on an inferior scapular border, wherein the one or more muscles include the teres minor;
analyzing, with the computing system, a respective impact, due to virtual implantation of each implant of a plurality of implants, on one or more of the soft tissue insertion points, wherein analyzing the respective impact comprises determining whether total soft tissue length change or contraction, over one or more ranges of motion, is substantially maintained within anatomical ranges for achieving a set of activities, wherein determining whether total soft tissue change or contraction is substantially maintained within the anatomical ranges comprises:
determining a first set of one or more vectors in three dimensions indicative of distance and direction between two or more of the attachment points prior to the virtual implantation of each implant;
determining a second set of one or more vectors in three dimensions indicative of distance and direction between the two or more of the attachment points due to virtual implantation of each implant; and
comparing the first set of one or more vectors and the second set of one or more vectors to determine whether total soft tissue change or contraction is substantially maintained within the anatomical ranges;
generating, with the computing system, information indicative of at least one of a selection of a glenoid implant, a humeral implant, or information for creation of a shoulder surgery guide based on the analyzing of the respective impact; and
outputting, with the computing system, the generated information.
