1. A method to process uplink-centric user data for an uplink-centric user application and to process downlink-centric user data for a downlink-centric user application, the method comprising:
a Distributed Unit (DU) receiving the uplink-centric user data for the uplink-centric user application executed by a user device;
the DU receiving the downlink-centric user data for the downlink-centric user application executed by the user device;
the DU processing the uplink-centric user data with uplink-centric network applications based on the uplink-centric user application; and
the DU processing the downlink-centric user data with downlink-centric network applications based on the downlink-centric user application;
wherein the uplink-centric network applications comprise an uplink Physical Layer (PHY), uplink Media Access Control (MAC), Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) in the uplink MAC, uplink Radio Link Control (RLC), uplink Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), and uplink Radio Resource Control (RRC); and
wherein the downlink-centric network applications comprise a downlink PHY, downlink MAC, downlink RLC, downlink PDCP, and downlink RRC and the downlink MAC does not comprise the HARQ.
