1. A handheld controller configured to be removably coupled to and control an imager, the handheld controller comprising:
a carrier body at which the imager is removably mounted, wherein the imager is mounted at the carrier body in one of a plurality of different orientations with respect to the carrier body;
at least one processor; and
memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations including:
in response to a change in an orientation with respect to the carrier body in which the imager is mounted at the carrier body, changing an operating mode of the handheld controller and/or the imager.
