1. A method, comprising:
causing, by a network device, instantiation of a base container within a line card of the network device based on identifying that the line card is enabled;
causing, by the network device and based on causing the instantiation of the base container within the line card, instantiation of a module container associated with a physical interface module of the line card of the network device based on identifying that the physical interface module is enabled within the line card;
managing, by the network device and using the base container, a forwarding table associated with the line card; and
managing, by the network device and using the module container, one or more physical components of the physical interface module.
