1. A security system configured to mount to a power outlet, the security system comprising:
an outwardly facing portion configured to face away from the power outlet;
an inwardly facing portion having a first electrical prong and a second electrical prong that protrude into the power outlet to mount the security system to the power outlet;
an infrared detector;
a fingerprint reader;
a button, disposed on the outwardly facing portion, having a glass imaging window overlying the infrared detector, the infrared detector being coupled to the fingerprint reader and being configured to activate a doorbell and to read fingerprints through the glass imaging window; and
a detection system coupled to the outwardly facing portion, the detection system including a detector, the detector comprising a microphone, a camera, and a motion detector, the camera and the button being spaced apart from one another and disposed on a surface of the outwardly facing portion,
wherein the detection system is configured to detect a condition selected from the group consisting of detecting an absence of motion, detecting an absence of sound, and a combination thereof, and thereby cause an alert in response to detecting the condition during a predetermined time of day.
